New Management Board Member for IT at Volkswagen Financial Services: Dr. Alena Kretzberg succeeds Dr. Mario Daberkow

Daberkow takes on new role in IT at the Volkswagen Group

Braunschweig, 14 December 2022. Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) will be welcoming a new board member: Dr. Alena Kretzberg, currently Divisional Board Member for Digital Banking & comdirect at Commerzbank, will take over responsibility for Information Technology and Processes at Europe's largest automotive financial services provider effective from 1 March 2023.The appointment makes  Alena Kretzberg the second woman on the five-member Management Board of Volkswagen Financial Services alongside Dr. Alexandra Baum-Ceisig (Human Resources and Organization). Dr. Alena Kretzberg succeeds Dr. Mario Daberkow in this position, who will move to the parent company in Wolfsburg on 1 April 2023.
 

Alena Kretzberg has been working for Commerzbank in various functions and positions since April 2019, most recently as Divisional Board Member for Digital Banking and comdirect, and before that as Divisional Board Member for Group Digital Transformation and Strategy. Up until that point, she had worked for eight years as a partner at McKinsey, advising banks on topics relating to strategy, digitalization, technology, and IT strategy.

Alena Kretzberg studied business administration and business informatics at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Hesse. She subsequently earned a doctorate in economics at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Rhineland-Palatinate.

Dr. Mario Daberkow has been the Board Member for IT and Processes at Volkswagen Financial Services for around ten years, before which he was a Management Board Member of Deutsche Postbank AG for ten years with responsibility for IT and Operations. The Doctor of Mathematics had begun his career as a research assistant at the Technical University of Berlin. Then, after spending several years with McKinsey as a consultant, he moved to Deutsche Postbank.

The Management Board of Volkswagen Financial Services AG will in future comprise: Dr. Christian Dahlheim (CEO), Frank Fiedler (CFO), Anthony Bandmann (CSO), Dr. Alexandra Baum-Ceisig (CHRO) and Dr. Alena Kretzberg (CIO).
